Get Down 21st Birthday Edition
Get Down - 21st Birthday Edition
In 1999 Soulive erupted onto the Soul jazz / funk scene and influenced a new generation of bands with their explosive original sound that fused organ trio groove jazz with a hip hop feel (note: or ‘beats’). Their debut release ‘Get Down’ became a modern day classic and it kick started an acclaimed career of touring and recording that has lasted 20+ years. In that time Soulive (Alan Evans, Neal Evans, Eric Krasno) have toured the world selling out headline shows, opening for the likes of The Rolling Stones and collaborating with artists such as Chaka Khan and The Dave Matthews band. Fifteen albums later they are still going strong !
Celebrating Soulive’s 21st year comes a very special release: ‘Get Down – 21st Birthday Edition’. Available on vinyl for the first time, the album has been remixed and remastered by Soulive’s Alan Evans. As well as being the co-founder and drummer of Soulive Evans, is also an acclaimed studio owner and producer in his own right. He puts this experience to good use to deliver a remixed / remastered album that sounds incredible, sparkling with a dynamic warmth and energy which allows those classic original tracks to truly shine.
The album includes the original album’s classic tracks (‘Soulive’, ‘Uncle Junior’, ‘Rudy’s Way’, ‘Cash’s Dream’, ‘Turn It Out’) and additionally includes a never before heard version of Uncle Junior, recorded before guitarist Eric Krasno joined the band which features Nick Mancini on vibraphone.
Soulive’s ‘Get Down- 21st Birthday Edition’ will be released on xx as a limited edition heavyweight Vinyl release, with all new liner notes on the origins of the album written by Alan Evans and Eric Krasno plus never before seen photos from the album recording session.
